I got a pell grant for school and it covers way more then what my tuition and books are. Does the rest of the money go to me?

The overage will be refunded to you by the school. This is your money to cover additional expenses, including living expenses. You can use it as you wish.

If they offer to put this money on a debit card, you do not have to accept this option, you can have it transferred directly to your bank account or they can issue you a check. These debit cards have high fees associated with them and it’s difficult to get your money in cash should you need it all at one time.
