Do you have to pay back Pell Grants?

I was told that if you have money left over from pell grants after tuition and fees, that you have to pay it back or it becomes a loan. I’ve been trying to find it online and I can’t :( Does anybody know for sure?

no…a grant is money the goverment gives you… its not a loan… you dont have to pay a pell grant back…. you actually want them!!! free money!!

No

The only reason you would have to pay back a grant is if there was an overpayment (generally as a result of false information on your application). Many people get refunds… it’s okay to use it or save it.

It is FREE money from the goverment! … take advantage of it, doesnt happen very often!
