Are you suppose to be accepted into a college before you apply for grants and loans?

What are some good web sites to find grants? And is there anything I should know about applying for college and grants?

Yes! You need to know that you will be attending that college before filling the applications…. otherwise you will get approved for financial aide… and then say you dont get accepted… then, well, you will have to cancel that request…. if that all makes sense. But yes, wait for the acceptance, then apply for grants.

Hope that helps!

NO,Go to your guidance office and get the papers for loans and grants. Once you are accepted into a college the loan company pays the tution. You apply for the loan first.

NO, you can start applying in your senior year in high school! The longer you wait the more money that is going to someone else – so hurry!
Best site is Fastweb.com. They have you fill out a survey and tell you what grants you will be eligible for based on your race, if anyone in your family has been in the service, different affiliations you or family has. It is the greatest site and they keep you updated as new ones become available that may be suited to you.
Best of luck in your continuing education!

Yes, being accepted to college has nothing to do with financial aid. They expect you to pay anyway anyhow!

No I started looking before I went to college. Check out scholarships.com and Fastweb. Great websites. Also go to your local library in the college reference section there are usually a few books with available scholarships within your state and your major. Good Luck

yes – this way the school can put together an accurate financial aid package for you – they cannot do that without your formal admission to the institution. Just because you apply and are admitted doesn’t mean you HAVE to go to school there. You can apply for financial aid prior to applying, but it’s like applying for a house loan using just your name & income – you’ll get an estimate of what you can borrow but not anything definite.
